everything is a market

you trade throughout the day without seeing a checkout screen.

you give information for attention and privacy for convenience.

during a conversation, you compete for a few minutes of someone's focus. during hiring, a company offers money and a candidate offers skill.

you give a friend time and expect trust in return. you wait in a queue and pay with patience.

you may pay with status or access. you may pay at another time or in another place.

someone tells you a story, and you use that information in your next choice. you both traded something. neither of you named a price.

i look at the price someone paid and the thing they wanted when their behaviour makes no sense to me.
